REAL GAMES - ALL-AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL

Wow.  This game is the very definition of generic.  I have played a lot of bland games that all look the same, but All-American Championship Football is definitely the worst in that category.

All-American Championship Football is a football game.  You're probably saying, "well no shit", but that is all that can be said about this game.  Try google searching it.  You will find a couple of rom sites that have it for download, and that's it.  This game is so undistinctive and dull that game sites like GameFAQs or IGN don't even admit this game exists.  And after playing it, I really don't understand why it exists.

However, I do understand why this exists.

From the first title screen, I knew that this game was meant for the original NES.  It looks like an NES game, sounds like one, and plays like one.  I can only assume that they completed this game as the NES was being replaced by the SNES.  So they changed up the control layout, and voila!

Speaking of controls, this game has none.  You use 2 buttons total for this entire game.  Big surprise there.  One button changes players, and the other either dives or tackles depending on if you have the ball or not.  The other buttons do come in to play for passes, but that's it.

FIRST DOWN FIRST DOWN FIRST DOWN FIRST DOWN....yeah.  That's the audio for this game.  No music, a whistle sound effect, and either the words FIRST DOWN or TOUCHDOWN repeated 20 times for every first down or touchdown.  I thought my game had frozen the first time I had got a first down because the voice loops continuously, even while you are selecting your next play.

If you need proof that this game was meant for the NES, you don't have to look any further than the graphics.  A solid green field and tiny sprites that have no detail at all.  How do you tell which team is which?  By the single pixel of color that each sprite has.

Sorry if I have seemed a little distracted during this review.  I'm still intrigued by hot girls playing football in their undies.  Why can't I review a game about that?

Gameplay?  Yeah, there isn't any.  The AI is retarded.  I used the exact same play and defense every time, and beat every team with ease.  Just like in the other football game I've reviewed, there was no point in playing a season as there is no real ending.  How boring.

Overall, All-American Championship Football is an obscure game that deserved to be forgotten about.  It also deserves 1 angry ref out of 5.  I'm starting to wonder if there are any good football games for the Super Nintendo.

After 20 games, I realized that they didn't bother to put an actually ending in the game, so here's the closest that you will ever see to one.
