Sorry for the delay. We've had some extremely weird weather over the last two days and it has messed with my schedule a bit. It went from 75+ degrees, to freezing rain, followed by a ton of snow, all within 48 hours. I live in Texas. Why in the fuck is it snowing?
Don't look at me that way, grill. I didn't make it snow! |
So we start off in the Bronx, packing heat. And by heat, I mean a pop gun. I haven't watched the movie in years, so I have no clue what is going on. Jump on things, pop your gun at some cats, and that's about it. Unfortunately, this slow start remains for the entire game. In fact, this game is exactly what comes to mind when I hear the words "Movie Licensed".
I'll stick with Maus if I want to read about Jewish mice and Nazi kitties. |
Does the game use a repetitive song that is looped throughout the entire thing? You betcha!
Are the graphics decent and look as if they were ripped straight from the movie? Yup!
Does the gameplay suck and have little or nothing to do with the movie that it is supposedly based on? Fuck yeah it does!
And here lies the problem with MOST movie licensed games. They are usually the same thing. Really good sprites and backgrounds to reflect the movie, and pure garbage everywhere else. I say most, because there are the rare ones that try something different. Unfortunately, Fievel Goes West belong with the former category, and it only scores 2 angry dog fish things out of 5.
This is the entire ending. Woopidy Doo. |

i hated this game when i was lil
I'm still tripping balls with that BBQ picture...
I'd totally forgotten about this movie. I remember watching it as a kid now.
We've been getting some weird weather here on the west coast too.
I like the picture with the BBQ!
The angry grill keeps reminding me of the winter! I can't stand snow but its coming.
The one highlight of the movie is it does star James Stewart as the dog. Snow in Texas? We've barely got a flurry in New Yawk! Love the blog!
Ahh that movie title brings back a lot of memories, especially the VHS tape days
You're lucky, I wish it would snow up here! Can't wait to snowboard. Until then, classic videogames time!
crazy weather you say?
oh boy, this is so old :P i totally forgot
nice post!
I live in Texas, too. I wish the weather was like that where I was. I love cold and bad weather. There's rain coming in today (supposedly), so the temperature has dropped a bit. That's put me in a slightly better mood.
As for the game, I'd still love to play it! Fievel brings back memories!
