REAL GAMES - THE ADDAMS FAMILY

These next three reviews are going to be a trifecta of suck. First, we have two movie licensed games based on the same franchise, which were actually based on an old television show. Then it's a cartoon licensed game based on a short-lived cartoon that was based on the same god damn movies. Fuck. Well, lets get this shitfest going.

The Addams Family started off as a newspaper comic in the late 30's and lasted 50 years.  Never read it.  There was also a TV show in the 60's.  I never found the reruns on Nick at Nite any good, but I'm pretty sure that's because I was born 20 years after that shit was considered funny.  In the 90's, they revamped the franchise with crappy movies.  The combined awesomeness of Raul Julia and Christopher Lloyd couldn't save these movies.  And of course, with any crappy movie aimed towards kids, there were video games based on them.  This is The Addams Family.

You combined M.Bison and Doc Brown.  How the fuck do you mess that up?
We start our game with the theme song that everybody knows, and the animated hand, known as Thing, snapping to the beat.  Looks and sounds good!  I thought to myself, maybe this won't be so bad after all.  Then the actual game started, and I sighed.  Generic everything, as far as the eye can see.

First on the generic list is the controls.  Jump, and if you have a weapon, attack.  You know what the problem was with the Super Nintendo controller?  There was none.  Do you know what the problem was with the game developers for the Super Nintendo?  They were lazy fucks that used only 2 buttons per game because they lacked the creativity to design functions for the other 6 buttons.

Next stop on the generic train is the audio.  The opening theme song was awesome.  However, all of their effort obviously went into that, because the rest of this crap can be heard on just about any other Super Nintendo game.  And the sound effects are annoying.  Bicycle horns and farts.  That's it.

Let me play you the song of my people.
If you look out the window, you might catch a glimpse of the generic graphics in their natural habitat: the movie licensed game.  This game does have hints of good art, but they are used in all the wrong places.  The high res pictures on the wall are there to show us just how little they worked on the rest of the game.

And we reach the final destination: generic gameplay ville.  I beat this game on a single play through in under 90 minutes.  That is just pathetic.  There is no challenge to this game at all, and no replay value either.  I'm not really complaining though, because the less I play this game, the better.

The Addams Family was obviously a quick cash in opportunity.  No effort was put into it, and the game is shorter than the actual movie.  I give it a 1 Grandmama out of 5.  Next up...more Addams Family movie licensed games.  Joy.

After this, Gomez walks through the gallery, which has pictures of the developers that are drawn better than anything else in this game.

The movies may be cheesy but, for all it's worth, at least they chose a good cast.

I wish they would spend a little more time when it comes to games based off of movies, sure there are exceptions but not many...as soon as a movie comes out and i see the title at the store i just KNOW its gonna be bad, just another cheaply made ad to supplement the movie's release and subsequent sales. either do it right or dont make it at all

About 4 years too early though.
